About The Evening Project

The story behind Crowdsourcing Wisdom and Connecting the Dots.

Hi There, I am Nirmit.

I was quite convinced very early in my life that I wanted to become a writer.

However, as is often the case with writers, it took me a long time to actually do something about it.

To be specific, it took me 4 years of Computer Engineering, 2 years of MBA in Marketing, and 1 year of working as a Consultant in a Global MNC before I started this blog.

Finally, one fine day in November of 2018, I took the leap and bought the domain name for The Evening Project.

However, I didn’t write my first post until after one month.

I was stuck at “What should I write about?”

But the real question was

What am I obsessed about?

I soon realized that building anything worthwhile requires more than just being interested in something. It requires obsession.

And I knew what I was obsessed about.

The idea that

“I can take action to improve what I do everyday, so that eventually I become the best version of myself.”

So, I started documenting my struggles, my experiments, my failures, my successes, and everything that comes with the journey.

And that’s how this blog started. A collection of personal experiments and a diary of sorts to document everything that helped me become a better version of myself.

Most of this happened during evenings after work. Hence the name.

Building a Community.

Over time, I realized that there were hundreds of other students and young professionals, who were asking the same questions that I did.

Questions on:

  • Building better Growth Habits
  • Reading and Learning Effectively
  • Developing effective Personal Routines and Systems
  • Navigating Career and Lifestyle
This led me to start a weekly newsletter attempting to answer these questions. Today, it has evolved into a community of hundreds of like minded learners and it is growing everyday.

    Spreading the Word.

Although I prefer the “Written Word” as my weapon of choice, I have been fortunate enough to be invited as a Guest and Keynote Speaker at some of the prominent community platforms. This includes a mix of MBA Colleges, Local Community Meet-ups, and Corporate Events.

I’ve had the opportunity to talk about navigating my Career Journey as a Marketing Student and a then a Young Professional in Marketing & Technology Consulting at LinkedIn Local, Bengaluru.

I’ve talked about “Building an All Star LinkedIn Profile” and “Building your Personal Brand through LinkedIn” at various events for Upgrad – India’s leading EdTech Company.

    A Little More
    About My Background

I started my academic journey as a Computer Engineer from Gujarat Technological University.

Eventually, I went to study Strategic Marketing and Communications from MICA, Ahmedabad – one of the premier Marketing Colleges in the APAC region.

Given my background, I developed a huge fascination for how we can use Technology to re-imagine traditional Marketing and Customer Experiences in a Digital World.

Currently, I work as a Digital Marketing Technology Consultant at Wipro, one of India’s largest IT and Technology Company.

    A Final Note to Readers.

I do the writing, but that doesn’t mean I am here to tell anyone what to do.

We all have to make that decision ourselves.

    I write because I read.
I read books to understand myself and the things around me better.

    I write because I observe.
I observe people to learn from what they have already figured out.

    I write because I experiment.
I experiment to see what works, what doesn’t work and what can be learned from it.

I want The Evening Project to be a space that allows you to think for yourself.

But to hear me or not, is your prerogative.

You might argue that there are enough resources on the Internet and there are enough people in the world doing this.

Why do we need another one?

I say to you, WHY NOT?

Just like there can never be enough goodness and kindness in the world,
I believe there can never be enough of helping people grow and improve.

    Lastly, I welcome criticisms.
    I welcome being wrong.

It helps because more than anything else, I want to improve myself.

    Happy Reading.
